Description

The Dr. Martens Lowell blends contemporary aesthetics with archival workwear design - a 4-eye moc toe shoe built from butterscotch Orleans leather with a comfort-focused padded collar, stitch detailing, and the rugged BEN outsole developed in the 1980s. Orleans is a lightly textured, waxy pull-up leather with a heavy handle and soft, supple feel - a warmer, more characterful option than standard Smooth leather. Available to shop in-store and online at No-Comply Skateshop in downtown Austin, TX, the Butterscotch colorway gives the Lowell a rich, warm tone that deepens with wear.

Technical Component Specification Detail
Design and Silhouette The Lowell is a 4-eye moc toe shoe that draws on Dr. Martens' archival workwear heritage - the moc toe stitching references the construction of classic work boots, giving the shoe a more substantial, utilitarian profile than the clean-toe 1461 oxford. The padded collar adds comfort and a slightly more casual feel, making the Lowell a versatile option between a dress shoe and a boot.
Orleans Leather Orleans is a lightly textured, waxy pull-up leather with a heavy handle and soft, supple feel - warmer and more characterful than Dr. Martens Smooth leather, with a subtle surface texture that catches light differently than a polished finish. Like Crazy Horse, Orleans is a pull-up leather - scratches and pressure marks lighten the surface and can be rubbed out, developing a lived-in patina over time. The Butterscotch colorway deepens and warms with wear, developing a rich two-tone effect across the surface.
Welt Construction Goodyear welt construction heat-seals and stitches the upper to the sole, reinforced with the signature yellow welt stitch that has identified Dr. Martens footwear since 1960. The welt process makes the sole significantly more durable and resoleable than cemented construction - a key advantage for a shoe built to last.
BEN Outsole The BEN sole was developed in the 1980s as Dr. Martens' rugged workwear outsole - deeper cleats and a heavier tread pattern than the standard AirWair bouncing sole, designed for durability and grip on demanding surfaces. The BEN sole gives the Lowell a more substantial, boot-like stance underfoot compared to the slimmer profile of the standard DM sole.
Break-In and Care Orleans leather is soft and supple from the start, making the Lowell Butterscotch one of the easier Dr. Martens styles to break in. The waxy finish means the leather responds well to conditioning - apply Dr. Martens Shoe Polish in a matching colour to restore and maintain the finish, or use Wonder Balsam for general conditioning. The padded collar reduces heel rubbing during the early break-in period.

WASH & CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

Clean away surface dirt with a soft damp cloth and allow to dry. For scuffs on the Orleans leather, rub gently with your thumb or a soft cloth - the pull-up effect means light marks will often disappear with friction. Apply Dr. Martens Shoe Polish in a matching colour to restore the waxy finish and maintain the Butterscotch tone. For deeper conditioning, apply Wonder Balsam before polishing. Avoid heavy water saturation. Do not machine wash.
